17 August is an important date for Foochow Methodist Church ...

First - it is FUN time. A time to let loose yourselves and have fun.

Second - From Primary to Teens, FMC Teens will be leading our young in having FUN while the adults are busy.

This is standing the gap, being a team player, helping, scratching where the itch is, serving. Bless you Teens. We may be depriving you of your formal learning this week but your service is blessing us. Thank you.

Third - PDTM is working. Praise God.

Fourth - Bible Reading will continue with Acts 13. The following ladies will read for us God's Word. Miss Jazlyn, Miss Eunice, Miss Keiza, Miss Yit Han, and Miss Jen Yi.

God's Love Letter

During the past 3 months, some teens and youths have been sharing that they would like to have a boy/girl friend or would like to get married soon.

They claimed that one of their friends is already married at a very young age so why can't they?

Thot I share a letter given to me many years ago.

"Dear child,

Everyone longs to give themselves completely to someone to have a deep relationship with another: to be loved thoroughly and exclusively.

But I say, "No, not until you are satisfied, fulfilled and content with living, loved by Me along, and with giving yourself totally, unreservedly to Me. I love you my child and until you discover that only in Me is your satisfaction to be found, will you be capable of the perfect love, the perfect human relationship that I have planned for the most thrilling plan existing, one that you can't imagine. I want you to have the best. Please allow Me to bring it to you. You must keep watching Me and expect the greatest things. Keep experiencing the satisfaction knowing that I am preparing the One for you. Keep learning and listening to the things that I tell you.

Do not be anxious. Do not worry. Do not look around at the things others have received from Me. Do not look at things you think you want. You just keep looking off and away, up to Me, or you will miss what I want to show you.

And then, when you are ready, I will surprise you with a love far more wonderful than you would ever dream. You see, until you are ready and until the one I have for you is ready, I will be working to have both of you ready at the same time. My Son

Vicky shared this with me ...

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art.

When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.

About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.

He said, 'Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art.'

The young man held out this package. 'I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this.'

The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears.

He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture.

'Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift.'

The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.

The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection.

On the platform sat the painting of the son The auctioneer pounded his gavel. 'We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?'

There was silence.

Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, 'We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one.'

But the auctioneer persisted. 'Will somebody bid for this painting. Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?'

Another voice angrily. 'We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Goghs, the Rembrandts. Get on with the real bids!'

But still the auctioneer continued. 'The son! The son! Who'll take the son?'

Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. 'I'll give $10 for the painting.' Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.

'We have $10, who will bid $20?'

'Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters.'

'$10 is the bid, won't someone bid $20?'

The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son.
They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.

The auctioneer pounded the gavel. 'Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!'

A man sitting on the second row shouted, 'Now let's get on with the collection!'

The auctioneer laid down his gavel. 'I'm sorry, the auction is over.'

'What about the paintings?'

'I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings.

The man who took the son gets everything!'

God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is: 'The son, the son, who'll take the son?'
Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE...THAT'S LOVE, in God's only Son, Jesus.

Acts of the Apostle

Last Sunday (4 May 2008), FMC Teens kicked off the reading of The Acts of the Apostle. Lynette Ling and Joshua Siew read Acts 1 for us beautifully. Lynette read about how Jesus floated upwards into the Heaven. That must be a great sight to behold. Our very first SUPERMAN. Christ Jesus has ended his stay on earth and is returning to Heaven. The same manner that He left earth will be the same manner He will return to earth.

Joshua read about how the disciples in accordances with the scriptures selected a replacement for Judas (the betrayer). Matthias was selected. A strange and unique selection process.

Imagine how the disciples must have felt. Wow ... Jesus is really gone. But God gave them a promise and a commandment, Acts 1:8, But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.

Think about it. The same promise and commandment is also for you.

Look out for Acts 2. Even greater things are happening.

S Kids

Our Mr. Fanastic, Uncle Boon, single handedly ministered with about 15-20 S. Kids last Saturday, 25 April 2008.

They enjoyed a session of games.

They invited Ms Agnusa, one of the S. Kids, to read us a story about how Jesus died and rose from the dead.

Watching how these kids respond to the Bible is joy to behold.

S. Kids is closed for 2 weeks due to the mid-year examinations

We plead with you to pray for Uncle Kai Eng's nephew, Joshua Lee, who is sick and is hospitalised with suspected "Kawasakis Disease".

This is serious as it can and will attack the heart of the patient.

Ask the God of all creation to heal Joshua.

Praise God in his holy sanctuary; give praise in the mighty dome of heaven.

The psalmist wanted to Praise God with all possible musical instruments. If God has blessed you with musical talents and parents who have invested much into your music lessons, COME, and praise God together with what you can.

Come be part of a team that will lead the Teens to FALL in love with God in ever increasing measure.

Sunday

GOs continued their service by being there for our younger kids in Sunday School.

ARCs did their Spiritual Gifts profiling test. Hmmm... interesting to discover what each of their gifts are.

SIMs continued in their pursued to understand and develop Godly Habits for their lives.

KFCs finished their study of Assurances of Salvation with the GO Teens Interns acting as small group leaders. We studied 1 John 5:11, 12. If they were to die today ... where would they go to?

Charissa, Leonard, Jamie, Valerie, and Jerald served God and us by leading us in singspiration.

Jeremy and his team helped us set up the sound equipments.

GO Interns, Peck Yong, Elizabeth, Charissa, and Seth, assisted in keeping the equipments.

All in all ... God blessed us.

For those who could not be with us ... we missed you and hope to see you next week.

Be Thankful

S. Kids

Today, we shared the topic of Being Thankful with the kids.

Nages, a delightful Pri 6 girl, brought us a storybook about being thankful. We are thankful to God for her willingness to share her book with us. She also assisted us in reading the story with her 15 odd friends. Raymond, a cheerful Pri 3 boy, filmed the entire story session with his N80I mobile.

The kids also enjoyed a game of working together using papers to build a bridge.

Continue to pray for the S. Kids, like Nages and Raymond.

We would like to include singing but lack musicans and song leaders. We need game masters or even bible story tellers. Most of all, we need people just to be their friends.
